Matt Patton is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor with experience treating depression, anxiety disorders, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He specializes in humanistic approaches and third-generation cognitive therapies, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with the goal of helping clients build richer, more meaningful lives.
Matt takes a caring and compassionate approach to help clients understand and develop the confidence to overcome obstacles preventing them from living in sync with their core values.
In addition to his clinical work, Matt has over two decades of experience teaching psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This has honed his ability to communicate complex psychological concepts in easy-to-understand ways. His academic background also keeps him up-to-date on the latest research in clinical psychological science, which he applies to provide the most effective, evidence-based treatments.
Matt earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Chicago in 2008. He is currently a Mental Health Therapist at Anne Arundel Counseling.
