With extensive experience in providing therapeutic services, Mikyala specializes in helping clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Mikyala holds a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from The George Washington University and is licensed as a professional counselor in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Pennsylvania. She incorporates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, exposure therapy, and solution-focused techniques to support clients in achieving meaningful change. Her therapeutic style emphasizes empathy, collaboration, and empowerment, creating a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their concerns and build resilience.

In her current role, Mikyala works closely with diverse populations, tailoring interventions to meet each client’s unique needs. She is passionate about mental health advocacy and strives to reduce stigma by promoting education and awareness within the community. Mikyala currently works in private practice where she has worked for 3 years as a psychotherapist, as well as for a medical provider for the same timeframe. Before her current roles, Mikyala served as a Program Manager for several mental health teams within a local non-profit organization, overseeing Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs in Montgomery and Anne Arundel Counties, MD. These teams specialized in providing comprehensive care for individuals with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) and co-occurring disorders. She dedicated over a decade to the non-profit agency, progressing through multiple roles. Beginning as a caseworker, she advanced to Senior Program Manager, a position she held during her final years with the organization. Mikyala also worked as Lead Therapist for a Mood and Anxiety Intensive Outpatient Program for Eating Recovery Center for several years. Mikyala has worked in the mental health field for over 16 years in various capacities.

Outside of her clinical work, Mikyala enjoys reading novels, hiking, and traveling domestically and internationally, which helps maintain balance and creativity in her practice.
